Nassau County, NY - August 26, 2015 - With major crime in Nassau County down 4.8% year-to-date and down nearly 30% over the past five years, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Tom Krumpter are issuing safety tips so Nassau County can remain the safest county in America for its size. After analyzing crime data, safety tips include: burglary prevention; thefts from vehicle; shopping tips; shopping online and taking of inventory.

“Much of our success in reducing crime is attributable to police officers and intelligence-led policing initiatives that continue to take a proactive approach to combatting crime trends,” said County Executive Mangano. “Though many safety tips seem like common sense, it is important that we share them with residents so that together we can protect our loved ones and property. I thank the Nassau County Explorers and NCPD Community Affairs Office for working diligently to distribute safety tips in areas targeted by individuals preying on our residents.”

Commissioner Krumpter added, “The Nassau County Police Department works diligently to prevent crime by studying intelligence collected by our professional law enforcement personnel. We utilize this intelligence to forecast issues before they happen and protect our residents. We urge all residents to take a moment to study these safety tips so they too can help in the fight against crime.”
