NYS Police announce the arrest of Peash Rahman of Jamaica, 24, for Assaulting a Police Officer.

Wantagh, NY - July 26, 2018 - On Wednesday, 25 July, at approximately 1:45 PM, a Trooper was stationary on the Southern State Parkway on the ramp to RT-110. While stationary with the LPR’s activated, the Trooper received a Hit Notification on a black 2017 Nissan Altima, NY REG- HUY9111. The hit was for unregistered/revoked registration for no insurance on file.  
 
The Trooper followed the vehicle and activated the emergency lights to make a traffic stop near exit 29 on the Southern State Parkway. The operator moved to the right lane and exited to State Route 135 northbound exit ramp and pulled onto the shoulder. As the Trooper approached the vehicle, the operator fled from the scene.  
 
The Trooper returned to his vehicle and advised SP Farmingdale Communications of a pursuit. The vehicle continued to travel north on State Route 135 and exited at State Route 107 and continued southbound. The operator then entered the Southern State Parkway heading westbound and continued to exit 28N (Wantagh Avenue). The operator then made a right turn onto Hunt Lane and another right onto Michele Lane in Wantagh, Nassau County. 
 
At the end of the cul-de-sac on Michele Lane, the operator continued to evade the Trooper and drove onto the lawn of a residence on Michele Court which caused damage to the vinyl fence, lawn and shrubs. The Trooper attempted to block the Nissan in and while exiting the Troop Car, the operator placed the Nissan in reverse striking the driver’s side door, which caused the Trooper to get pinned between the driver’s side door and the frame. At this time, another Trooper arrived on scene and while attempting to place the operator into custody he started to resist and after a brief struggle the operator was placed under arrest.
 
The operator who was identified as Peash Rahman, who is 24 years old from Jamaica, NY and he was transported to SP East Meadow for processing and was transported to the Nassau County Detention awaiting morning arraignment.
 
Both Troopers were injured and one was treated on scene the other Trooper was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for further treatment and was released.
 
While impounding the vehicle a large sum of cash and six large plastic bags containing approximately 6.13 pounds of marijuana.
 
Rahman was charged with the following:
 
  • Assault 2nd on a Police Officer- 2 counts
  • Reckless Endangerment 2nd
  • Criminal Possession of Marijuana 2nd
  • Criminal Mischief 2nd- 3 counts
  • Criminal Mischief 3rd
  • Unlawful Fleeing 3rd
  • Reckless Driving
  • AUO 1st
