Nassau Univeristy Medical Center is a teaching hospital serving Nassau County and is affiliated with the North Shore LIJ Health System. It started out as the 200 bed Meadowbrook Hospital in 1935 and has now grown to new heights, with 1,200 beds, a state-of-the-art burn center and Level 1 trauma Unit.

Today, the hospital, renamed the Nassau University Medical Center, is affiliated with the North Shore/LIJ Health System, the Health Sciences Center of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, and offers the community a variety of essential, ambulatory and clinic services.
