Officials Report Four Arrests Made in Connection with Series of CVS Medication Thefts

Officers discovered the suspects in possession of three black garbage bags that contained Claritin, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, Bayer Aspirin and Allergy medication, cops say.

Garden City, NY - July 19, 2018 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of four individuals at 4:35pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Garden City.
 
According to Detectives, the Nassau County Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) in conjunction with the Garden City Police Department, Nassau County’s 5th and 3rd Squads conducted an investigation into larcenies of CVS Pharmacy stores. At approximately 4:30pm CIRRT Team Officers observed a 2015 grey colored Honda Accord with four individuals in the vehicle, stop in their lane of traffic and let two rear passengers exit the vehicle across the street in front of the CVS on Franklin Avenue. The vehicle continued north on Franklin Avenue and made a U-turn without signaling.  
 
The Officers initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Stop of the vehicle. Upon approach Officers observed a clear bag believed to contain Marijuana and three black garbage bags that contained Claritin, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, Bayer Aspirin and Allergy medication.  
 
Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that a larceny had occurred at approximately 4:15pm at the CVS by the two passengers from the above listed vehicle. The proceeds were approximately fifty boxes of assorted Claritin. All four individuals were arrested without incident and transported to the Garden City Police Department for processing. Further investigation revealed that the four were responsible for two other larcenies; CVS located at 216 Henry Street Hempstead with similar proceeds valued at approximately $1600.00 and CVS located at 640 Franklin Avenue Franklin Square also similar proceeds valued at approximately $1800.00 US currency. The investigation is ongoing. 
 
Arrested were rear passengers: Defendant Clifton Carter, 19, Jamaica charged with three counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree. Defendant Shaheem Turner, 22, of Jamaica charged with three counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree and an open warrant for a Petit Larceny. Defendant (front passenger) Shawn Silvera, 25, of Rosedale charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Defendant (driver) Dakim Chaulk, 24, of Jamaica charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. All defendants will be arraigned on Thursday July 19, 2018 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead
