Officials: Suspect abandoned an Australian Shepherd with no food or water and never returned.

SPCA are seeking the man who abandoned an Australian Shepherd at the Long Island Welcome Center in Dix Hills.

Dix Hills, NY - June 7, 2018 - On Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at approximately 9:50 PM a male subject wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and shorts pulled into the Long Island Welcome Center located on the Long Island Expressway (Exit 51) in Dix Hills driving a dark colored SUV (possibly a Chevy Tahoe). He removed 2 Australian Shepherd's from the vehicle both wearing leashes and put into the dog pen located on the property. He retrieved one of the dogs leaving one male dog abandoned with no food or water and never returned. 
 
We can use the public's help. The Suffolk County SPCA is highly motivated to find those who are responsible for this heinous act. The investigation continues as we follow up leads and conduct interviews. We urge anyone with information to contact the Suffolk County SPCA so that we are able to bring the individual(s) responsible for this blatant act of animal cruelty to swift justice.
