The event, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, is designed to encourage Long Island’s youth to learn new skills in cooking which will lead to a healthier lifestyle, promote the use of local food to support local farmers and the environment and more. This year was the first year the competition was open to middle school students, who were assigned the challenge of creating a breakfast dish.
