Two in Custody in Connection with Fatal Overdose of Woman, Nassau Authorities Report

NCPD reports the arrests of Barshawn Potter of Westbury, 33, and John Funches of Hempstead, 44, for a narcotics related incident.

Lynbrook, NY - May 15, 2018 - Major Case Bureau detectives from the Narcotics Vice Bureau report the arrests of two men for a narcotics related incident that occurred in Lynbrook on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 7:05 am.
 
According to detectives, after a subsequent investigation and narcotics operation, involving the fatal overdose of a 34 year old female, at the Capri Motor Lodge, 5 Freer Street, led to the arrests of John Funches, 44, of Hempstead and defendant Barshawn Potter, 33, of Westbury. Both men were placed under arrest at the Capri Motor Lodge at 12:25 p.m. the same day without incident. 
 
At the time of arrest, Funches was in possession of 25 blue glassine envelopes containing a substance believed to be heroin. He was also in possession of substances believed to be crack and crack cocaine.
 
Funches is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree. He was arraigned on Friday, May 4, 2018 in First District Court, Hempstead.
 
Potter is charged with Criminal Facilitation 4th Degree. He was released on an Appearance Ticket and will be appear in First District Court, Hempstead on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
