A new Starbucks is being proposed for an empty lot on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station. The ubiquitous coffee shop would go in next to TD Bank just to the east of Old Town Road on the south side of the highway.

No plans have been revealed to the public yet.

“We have yet to file with the Town,” J. Timothy Shea, Jr., a partner in the Real Estate and Land Use and Zoning Groups at Certilman Balin in Hauppauge, told LongIsland.com in an email. “We provided the local Councilmember with a copy of our plan prior to filing and I believe he forwarded to the civic which put it on as a discussion matter.”

The Terryville Civic Association put on the item on their agenda for discussion at the April 25th meeting at Comsewogue Library. No presentation was made at the meeting by the developer or Mr. Shea.

The property was once the site of the Hi-Lite Diner, which burned down in January 2010.

The available lot is 14,000 square feet. In 2012, when the property was first developed the builder said that an office building was planned for the site adjacent to the bank. Those plans never materialized.
