SCPD are investigating a two-vehicle crash that injured a child in Brentwood.

Brentwood, NY - March 23, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured a child in Brentwood on Thursday, March 22.
 
Melanie Beemer was operating a 2011 Jeep Patriot east on Express Drive South when she was struck by a 1999 Honda Odyssey traveling south on Washington Avenue by Wilber Lopez Gonzalez at approximately 3 p.m.  A six-year-old boy in the Jeep was transported to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park in serious condition. Beemer, 35 of Coram, and Gonzalez, 22 of Brentwood, were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8532.
