Mastic, NY - March 4th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime Unit detectives are investigating a bank robbery in Center Moriches and an attempted bank robbery in Mastic that took place within ten minutes of each other.

A man entered the HSBC located at 1718 Montauk Highway in Mastic, at approximately 1:25 p.m., approached a teller and produced a note demanding cash.  The suspect fled on foot with no proceeds.  At approximately 1:35 p.m., a suspect matching the description of the man that robbed the HSBC entered the Chase bank located at 366 Main St., Center Moriches.  The man approached a teller, produced a note demanding cash and fled on foot after the employee complied with the robbers demands.

The robber is described as a white male, between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall in his mid-20s with a thin build.  He was wearing a dark-colored jacket camouflage pants.
