SCPD: Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Bay Shore After Struck by Unlicensed Teen Driver

Bay Shore, NY - February 18, 2019 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Bay Shore on Saturday, February 16.
 
A 58-year-old man was crossing Union Boulevard from south to north, near 1st Avenue, when he was struck by a westbound 2001 Chevrolet Impala at approximately 6:10 p.m. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported by Bay Shore Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.
 
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 16-year-old male, of Bay Shore, and his two 15-year-old male passengers were not injured. The driver was issued a summons for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
 
The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
