Officials: Nassau County Police Patrol Vehicle Accidentally Strikes Two Pedestrians in Manhasset

Long Island, NY - February 9, 2018 - The Third Squad detectives report the details of a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred on February 8, 2018 at 6:06 P.M. in Manhasset.
 
According to detectives, a Nassau County Police Officer while driving a marked patrol car northbound on a dimly lit portion of Community Drive, did strike 2 male pedestrians. The pedestrians were both wearing dark clothing and were both walking in the northbound travel portion of the roadway. 
 
The 19 year old pedestrian was transported by police department ambulance to an area hospital with serious head injuries. The 17 year old pedestrian refused medical attention at scene. The police officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment. 
 
Detectives report no apparent criminality at this time. The vehicle was impounded from scene for brake and safety inspections.
