Long Island, NY - February 7, 2017 - “When I became a legislator, I promised to fight for all New Yorkers. No matter who you are or where you’re from, you deserve a fair and honest shot to make a good life for yourself. That’s why, today, I helped pass a legislative package to provide better protections and greater access to services and benefits for immigrants in our state.”

“These bills reaffirm the values that our state and country were founded on. From the DREAM Act (A.3039), which allows the children of immigrants to apply for state tuition assistance programs, to protecting confidential information and fighting back against discriminatory databases (A.3049, A.4882, A.4884), we must stand up for each and every New Yorker.”

“Diversity is what makes New York truly great – that’s why my parents came here from Haiti and that’s why I’ll continue fighting every day to ensure our state is a vibrant and inclusive place to live.”
