Suspect Pours Flammable Liquid on North Merrick SUV and Ignites Vehicle, Cops Say

The owner looked outside his window and saw the front of his 2017 black Cadillac Escalade engulfed in flames.

The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a Vehicle Fire that occurred on Monday, February 6, 2023 am in North Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, an unknown subject poured a flammable liquid substance on a vehicle that was parked on Van Nostrand Avenue. The subject then set the vehicle on fire before fleeing the scene on foot in an unknown direction. 
 
The owner looked outside his window and saw the front of his 2017 black Cadillac Escalade engulfed in flames. The owner was able to extinguish the fire with a garden hose prior to the North Merrick Fire Departments arrival. 
 
No injuries were reported at scene.

The Nassau County Fire Marshall and Arson Bomb Squad at scene. The investigation is ongoing.
