After an 8-year hiatus from feature film making, two-time Academy Award nominee Bill Plympton, the “King of Indie Animation”, will returns to Long Island’s Cinema Arts Centre for the East Coast & New York premiere of his new animated feature film, Slide. The screening will take place on Sunday, February 18th at 2:15 PM, and will feature an in-person introduction by Plympton, and a post-film reception where the legendary animator will draw impromptu cartoons for every audience member.
Nominated twice for Academy Awards, renowned animator, illustrator, and cartoonist Bill Plympton received his first Oscar nomination in 1988 for the short film Your Face. Also the winner of the Cannes Grand Prix du Jury among other honors, Plympton is the first person to hand draw an entire animated feature film, with Slide being his ninth hand-drawn feature. Along with many shorts, MTV ID’s, and Simpsons’ couch gags, his impressive resume has earned Plympton status as the “King of Indie Animation.”
