"Air Quality Alert" ...Air quality alert in effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday... The New York state department of environmental conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties... Nassau and Suffolk In effect from 11 am to 11 PM EDT Thursday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone . The air quality index, or aqi, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. Authorities Announce Six Arrests During Crackdown on Sale of Alcohol, Tobacco to Minors

“Project 21” initiative targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors within the confines of Nassau County.

Nassau County, NY - January 19, 2017 - The Community Oriented Policing and Enforcement along with CIRRT (Criminal  Intelligence Rapid Response Team) Officers report the arrests of six (6) individuals during the “Project 21” initiative which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors within the confines of Nassau County. This initiative was conducted on January 18, 2018.
 
According to Officers, with the assistance of an underage agent, the following individuals were arrested for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage and Unlawful Dealing with a Child:
 
  • Defendant Young Ko, 58, of Bayside sold alcohol to a minor at New Carle Place Farm -514 Westbury Avenue, Carle Place. Defendant Young is also being charged with Improper Posting of a License.
  • Defendant Bryan Heran, 23, of Freeport sold alcohol to a minor at Carle Place Drive Thru – 525 Westbury Avenue, Carle Place.
  • Defendant Jesus Gomez, 64, of Westbury sold alcohol to a minor at Mercadito Mini Mart – 523 Union Avenue, Westbury.
  • Defendant Tatia Whales, 51, of Uniondale sold alcohol to a minor at His and Hers Lounge – 259 Post Avenue, Westbury.
  • Defendant Hasmukhbhai Ramabhai Patel, 44, of Queens Village sold alcohol to a minor at Shop and Stop Convenience store – 1000 Jerusalem Avenue, North Merrick.
The above defendants were released on Nassau County Appearance Tickets returnable to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on February 27, 2018.
 
The following defendant is being charged with a Town of Hempstead Ordnance of License Required of a Public Assembly:
 
  • Defendant Marvin Almendares-Turcios, 27, of Uniondale failed to produce the proper license for a public assembly at The Nest Bar and Lounge- 382 East Meadow Avenue, East Meadow. The defendant was released on a Nassau County Appearance Ticket returnable to First District Court, 99 Main Street on February 26, 2018.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
