Nassau County, NY - January 15, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano (4th left) recognized four Police Officers from the Criminal Investigative Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) whose arrest records have had a major effect in Nassau County.

County Executive Mangano stated, “These officers were involved in numerous street level, weapons-related arrests and investigations, resulting in the seizure of firearms. Their consistent debriefing of hundreds of defendants and persons of interest, has led to a wealth of intelligence, which has been utilized by all Units and Squads within the Department, including Homicide, Robbery, Special Investigations, and Precinct Squads.”

Mangano reported that “major crime has dropped 9.5% between 2013 and 2014. This decrease in major crime occurred across all precincts, and continues a downward trend that began 5 years ago.” Mangano continued, “Since 2009, crime has plummeted by 25% in Nassau County, including a 66% reduction in murder rates, a 27% decrease in robberies, and a 26% reduction in burglaries.”

County Executive Mangano applauded all of the members of the Nassau County Police Department saying that “it is due to each and every one of them that Nassau County is now reporting the lowest crime rate in history, since 1966, the year that crime statistics were first recorded.”
