Suffolk County SPCA: Lindenhurst Man Accused of Trapping and Abandoning Elderly House Cat

After an investigation, detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA have charged a Lindenhurst man with animal abandonment on December 29, 2023.  
 
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA said that its detectives charged Thomas Scaccia, 51, of Lindenhurst, with one count each of animal abandonment and a petit larceny, both misdemeanors, after trapping Toby, a 17 year old male feline in Lindenhurst and then abandoning him near the Marina in West Islip where a Good Samaritan found the cat. Toby was reunited with his owner unharmed.
 
Scaccia is scheduled to appear in First District Court, Central Islip, on January 17, 2024.
