Long Island, NY - January 2, 2017 - In response to commercials airing statewide over the holidays advertising Gov. Cuomo’s recent executive order allowing New Yorkers to pre-pay their 2018 property-taxes, Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) has written to the head of New York’s economic development wing, Howard Zemsky, questioning the intent and effectiveness of these taxpayer-funded advertisements.

“Gov. Cuomo advertising his own rhetoric-laced and misleading executive order, which depicted a negative interpretation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, does not remotely constitute economic development, but more closely resembles political posturing,” Murray wrote.

“I believe taxpayers, who funded this commercial, deserve to have the following questions answered: How much money is being spent on each advertising medium? How many jobs were created as a result of this ad campaign? How and why is ESDC involved in what can obviously be perceived as a self-promotional ad campaign for the governor?”
