Trying to keep abreast of the ever-changing transportation issues here on Long Island can be rewarding as well as a headache. We all can breathe a "sigh of relief" at the tentative agreement between the MTA and Local 100 of the Transport Workers Union. I know that when I take my family into the city we use the car and the trains. The trains (LIRR and subways) and the buses are the best way to get into and around the city during the holiday season. The tree and Radio City at Rockefeller Center; Macy's; Times Square; the stores and shops along 5th Avenue; Central Park; as well as the street vendors and all the holiday decorations that add to the allure and wonderment that is New York at this time of the year. Long Island not to be forgotten has developed our own holiday traditions. One of which is the Holiday Light Spectacular at Jones Beach. In getting around this winter, we all ask that you use extra caution especially when driving in inclement weather. Common sense should always prevail. From my family household to yours, I wish everyone a very safe, happy and healthy holiday season.
