Melville, NY, November 16, 2011 - Newsday today announced the launch of new iPad and iPhone applications that will deliver Newsday's valuable news coverage, along with live streaming of Cablevision's News 12 Networks and MSG Varsity. By bringing together these three award-winning outlets, the Newsday iPad and iPhone applications provide users with a one-stop source for all the local news and information they want and need, while on-the-go. The iPad and iPhone applications will be available for download from the iTunes App Store beginning tomorrow.

Newsday also announced the release of its first Android ® application, offering Newsday's comprehensive coverage anytime, anywhere. This new application will also be available beginning tomorrow on the Android Market.

Designed to complement Newsday's newspaper and website, the new iPad, iPhone and Android applications give users the opportunity to easily interact with Newsday's content. The applications are fully searchable with simple navigation features and customization options, and offer an interactive multimedia experience through video and photo galleries. Additionally, the apps offer complete coverage of Long Island news, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and business, as well as breaking news alerts, hyper-local weather updates, and instant access to hundreds of traffic cameras. And with access to the latest scores and schedules, sports enthusiasts will be able to follow their favorite professional and high school teams.

The Newsday iPad and iPhone apps will also provide live streaming of News 12 Networks and MSG Varsity. News 12 Networks is a cable exclusive, 24-hour hyper-local news service that operates seven individual channels serving Connecticut, Westchester, Hudson Valley, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Long Island and New Jersey. MSG Varsity, a 24/7 HD television network dedicated to high school sports, academics and activities across the tri-state area, provides unique programming across four regions - New Jersey, Long Island, Connecticut/Westchester/Hudson Valley and New York City. Through this pilot initiative, when selecting the News 12 and MSG Varsity live streaming features, users can choose their preferred regions, ensuring they have access to the coverage that matters most to them.

Advertisers also will benefit from the Newsday applications, which offer high-impact, visible ad positions. Additionally, with the new downloadable paper functionality of the Newsday iPad, iPhone and Android applications, advertisers will extend their reach as readers will see ads in both the electronic and print versions of the paper.
