Bellmore, NY - October 22, 2018 - Homicide Squad Detectives are investigating a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 in Bellmore.
According to Detectives, while traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway operating a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 44 year old male was involved in a collision with a gas tanker tractor trailer just east of Newbridge Road.
The motorcycle operator was attempting to stop when the motorcycle dropped and slid into the rear of the gas tanker tractor trailer. The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced at the scene by a Nassau County Police Medic. The operator of the gas tanker was transported to an area hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
The tractor trailer was examined at the scene and released to its owner.
The motorcycle was impounded for a brake and safety check.
The investigation is ongoing and the name of the victim is being withheld at this time.
