Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in North Amityville yesterday.
Wilmer Castillo was riding a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on New Highway when he struck a southbound 2021 Dodge ProMaster van, driven by Eduardo G., that was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Albany Avenue at approximately 12:50 p.m.
Castillo, 43, of Copiague, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Mr. G., 38, of Copiague, was alone in the vehicle and was uninjured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
