Armed with a baseball bat and wearing a mask, Joshua Wilson's attempted robbery at Macy's shatters display cases but leads to his swift arrest.

The Third Squad reports the details of an Attempted Robbery that occurred at 3:05pm on Saturday, August 26, 2023 in East Garden City.
 
According to Detectives, Defendant Joshua Wilson, 25, of Hempstead, was armed with a baseball bat, wearing a multicolored full-face mask and dressed in all black clothing as he entered the Macys department store located at 630 Old Country Road.
 
The Defendant ran to the jewelry counter and continued to swing the bat shattering the glass of the display cases in an attempt to remove the jewelry that was valued at over $370,000.00 US currency. His actions placed three store employees in fear of their safety causing them to run and seek shelter.
 
The Defendant fled the scene on foot toward Ring Road and at approximately 3:58pm he was located by Officers on Clinton Avenue and placed under arrest without incident. No proceeds were reported. Defendant Joshua Wilson is charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3 rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, August 27, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
 
Defendant Joshua Wilson was also charged with an active July 24, 2023 Nassau County Warrant for Violation of Probation regarding a prior Robbery 3rd Degree conviction.
