UFC 292 transpired on Saturday night at the TD Garden in Boston. According to UFC President Dana White, the main event, showcasing Sterling and O'Malley, marked the biggest bantamweight title clash ever presented by the UFC on pay-per-view.

Hailing from Uniondale, Sterling grew up amidst 7 siblings and 12 half-siblings. He started his wrestling journey at Uniondale High School in 2004 to stay away from joining a gang. He then wrestled at Morrisville State College before transferring to Cortland, where he secured a bachelor's degree in physical education and achieved the status of a two-time NCAA Division III All-American. Despite relinquishing his title to O'Malley, he continues to be regarded as one of the premier MMA fighters in the world.
