LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Wantagh is the mecca of cuteness this week with so many cats and dogs available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue and the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter! Read all about this week’s adorable adoptables.

Oh my goodness, check out Bobby! He’s the adorable puppyish Shepherd mix with Lab ears!  Bobby is between 1 and 2 years old and comes to Last Hope from a very crowded Kentucky shelter. Bobby weighs 42 pounds and he won’t get much bigger.  This adorable pooch likes other dogs and would do best in a family with teens or older because of his puppy exuberance (meaning he likes to jump).  With some basic training- Bobby can learn his manners in no time.  For more information about Bobby, check out his web page.

Pretty, playful, and purry! Ghost is a beautiful calico gal born April 2015 and rescued from Levittown with her litter mates. Ghost is so gorgeous and such a precious kitty, why not head down to Last Hope and meet her today

Gregory is described as one of the most special dogs you’ve ever met by the Town of Hempstead Animals Shelter! He came to the shelter with his brother Reynold after being found together in a park. Gregory looks like he’s had a rough life, but he’s as sweet as can be. He is friendly with strangers, displayed no issues with people near his food, and is recommended for a home with older kids. Gregory knows the commands “sit” and “lay down” and once he’s in a loving home he will easily learn more! Gregory is friendly with dogs and seems uninterested in cats, so this angel really should fit into most homes! Gregory is currently heartworm positive, so it’s important to find him a quiet home as soon as possible.  Please consider adopting this true rescue today!

Gregory’s brother Reynold is also really a sweet boy, and he really needs a home. At just 4 years old (and 61 pounds), Reynold is described as adorable- I mean just look at that smile! He is friendly with strangers, recommended for a home with kids, and is described as ‘low key’! Reynold is awesome as he tested very social, but avoidant and fine with cats.  Please come to the shelter and ask to meet Gregory and Reynold today! For more information, contact the Town of Hempstead Animal shelter.

Thank you for reading and please remember to always adopt- never shop!
