Massapequa Pizza Shop Owner Arrested for Attempted Arson After Gas Line Sabotage

Raymond Sgambati, owner of Sgambati's Pizza in Massapequa Park, was arrested for burglary, attempted arson, and reckless endangerment after damaging a gas line at his pizzeria.

The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a Massapequa man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 pm in Massapequa Park.
 
According to Detectives, Seventh Precinct officers responded to Sgambatis Pizza, located at 4952 Merrick Road, for the smell of natural gas. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown subject had damaged the gas line. After a thorough investigation it was determined that Raymond Sgambati, 48, of 6 Anchor Drive was responsible for the incident. He was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Sgambati is charged with Burglary 3 rd Degree, Attempted Arson 3 rd Degree and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
