Dr. Eric D. Donnenfeld is the Medical Director of TLC-Laser Eye Centers Garden City. He is New York's leading LASIK surgeon having performed over 19,000 laser vision correction procedures. He has performed laser vision correction on over 1,500 fellow doctors and their family members. Over 250 eye doctors and their families from all over the United States have chosen Dr. Donnenfeld to perform laser vision correction.

Dr. Donnenfeld has been performing laser vision correction for over 12 years, over twice as long as any other surgeon on Long Island. He is one of the principal investigators of the excimer laser and participated in the studies that led to its FDA approval. Dr. Donnenfeld has been awarded the Visx Star Award as one of the top 50 laser surgeons in the country every year since its inception.

Dr. Donnenfeld has trained more surgeons to perform laser vision correction than any other doctor in New York. Dr. Donnenfeld is one of the principal investigators of the LaserSight laser and was one of the first in the US to have the flying spot laser. He has written over 90 scientific papers, books and book chapters on corneal disease and refractive surgery. He is a renowned international authority on refractive surgery and has lectured throughout the United States and abroad on the subject.

Dr. Donnenfeld's practice is the leading cornea practice in New York. He is the Surgical Director of the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island at North Shore University Hospital. He is specialty trained in cornea and refractive surgery and has performed over 2,000 corneal transplants.

Dr.Donnenfeld is the Co-Director of the Cornea Department at North Shore University Hospital, as well as the Cornea Department at Nassau County Medical Center. He is the Co-Director of the External Disease/Cornea Department at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Donnenfeld is the past President of the Nassau Surgical Society and former Chairman of the Nassau County Medical Society Section of Ophthalmology. He is on the Board of Directors of the Nassau Academy of Medicine, the American College of Surgeons-Long Island Chapter and the Nassau Surgical Society. Dr. Donnenfeld is on the Board of Directors of two leading Ophthalmology societies and is on the Editorial Board of five journals of Ophthalmology and Optometry.

Dr. Donnenfeld graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College. He graduated with honors in the top 5% of his class at Dartmouth Medical School. Dr. Donnenfeld was Chief Resident at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. He completed his Cornea and Refractive Fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He has been recognized in 1999-2000 as surgeon of the year by both the Sons of Italy and the Lions Club of Long Island.
