The First Squad reports the arrest of an Amityville man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:38 AM in Hempstead.
According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers observed a 2023 Harley Davidson traveling eastbound on Weir Street near the intersection of Milburn Avenue with an obstructed license plate. Officers activated their emergency lights/sirens and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop.
During the investigation, Officers recovered a loaded silver/purple firearm with a red dot sight. Darrell Barnes, 38, of was arrested without incident.
A large metal dagger approximately 12 inches in length was recovered from a saddle compartment of the motorcycle.
Defendant Darrell Barnes is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and multiple Vehicle Traffic Law infractions. He will be arraigned on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
