Mineola Man's Hospital Havoc: Assault on Nurses Leaves Medical Staff Injured

A Mineola man, Vincent Petrillo, 55, faces three counts of assault after allegedly attacking hospital staff at Nassau University Medical Center, leaving a nurse with a hand injury and a physician with a knee injury.

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Mineola man for an Assault that occurred on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 1:10 pm in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, Defendant Vincent Petrillo, 55 of 148 Clemons Road, while being treated as a patient at Nassau University Medical Center, became violent with hospital staff and swung a wheel chair foot rest at a 68-year-old male nurse, causing an injury to his right hand. As hospital staff were attempting to restrain the defendant, a 60-year-old female physician sustained an injury to her right knee. Officers responded and placed Defendant Vincent Petrillo under arrest without further incident.
 
Defendant Petrillo is charged with three (3) counts of Assault 2 nd Degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead when medically practical.
