Police fatally shot a 19-year-old man threatening suicide with handguns during a confrontation in Massapequa

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a police involved fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 8:29 p.m. in Massapequa.
 
According to Detectives, police responded to a Stone Boulevard residence for a suicidal 19-year-old male. Upon arrival, the male, David Clements, was standing in front of his home with three handguns, holding a gun in each hand pointing them at his head. He was threatening to kill himself and disregarded numerous commands from officers to disarm himself.
 
The subject retreated into his home, before coming back outside. He then rushed down his driveway, pointing his weapon at officers until it became necessary for an officer to use deadly physical force. This officer was forced to shoot David Clements to stop the threat to officers and the public.
 
David Clements was pronounced deceased at scene by Nassau County Police Department medic.
 
The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad will continue their investigation in to this incident in conjunction with the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
