The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a West Babylon man for Leaving the Scene of an Incident which occurred on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 5:59 pm in Farmingdale.
 
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call for an auto accident on Fulton Street in the vicinity of Williams Street. A 2017 Honda was traveling westbound on Fulton Street and struck a male bicyclist, 52, which was also traveling westbound. The male was knocked to the ground and suffered head trauma. The vehicle fled the scene.
 
The male was transported to an area hospital by a Farmingdale Fire Department ambulance for treatment and evaluation.
 
A short time later, Brandon Douglas Barnes, 34, of 2 Raider Street returned to the scene and was arrested.
 
During the investigation it was determined that Barnes was driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
Defendant Barnes is charged with DWI, Leaving the Scene of an Incident and Assault 3 rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, January 26, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
