The air quality index...or aqi...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the aqi value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York state department of health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very Young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suffolk County Police To Hold Property Auction

Auction to be held on the morning of June 11 in Yaphank.

Yaphank, NY - June 9, 2014 - The Suffolk County Police Department Property Section will hold a property auction on June 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the Property Section building, located next to Police Headquarters, 30 Yaphank Ave. in Yaphank.
 
Among the items being auctioned are hand and power tools, automotive items, household items, clothing, footwear, video games, electronics, bicycles and jewelry. Motor vehicles and motorcycles will not be sold at this auction.
 
The event will be held rain or shine and all items will be sold in “as is” condition. All purchases are subject to New York State sales tax and payments must be made in cash.
