Tuesday's Top 10: Valentine's Day Dinners at Home

Food, Wine, & Dining, Top Ten on Long Island, Seasonal & Current Events

Valentine's Day dinner is the perfect day to pamper your partner and show your love through food.

With Valentine's Day falling on Thursday, it isn't as easy to get out to celebrate.  Life can certainly get in the way of a weekday holiday.  If the way to the heart is indeed through the stomach, then the Valentine's Day dinner needs to be artfully planned.  It is the perfect day to pamper your partner and show your love through food

Plan a romantic at-home dinner date for Valentine's Day with these tips for setting the mood. Create a romantic Valentine's Day atmosphere with candlelight. Create a playlist of your favorite romantic songs and put it on repeat.  Set the perfect mood with a bouquet of red roses or carnations for a centerpiece. Make the dinner table look special by setting out your best china on an elegant red table runner, and if the dining room is near a fireplace, get a cozy fire going to add to the ambience.

Fortunately, there are many culinary cupids across our Island who can do the cooking for you.  Think of it as a romantic heat and eat dinner.  Heart shaped lobster ravioli with champagne sauce or heart shaped bacon-wrapped fillet mignon are festive entrees.

Here are some delicious places to bring home a romantic dinner:

What a great list! This really helps me with the dinner I said I would make for my wife tomorrow! I have the roses, the card, the chocolate, the candles, and even a new shirt and tie... but I can not cook to save my life.
I know that when she comes home tomorrow and sees the wonderful meal prepared for her, she will forget about dinner and maybe an early dessert! I'm thinking I'm going to be calling Elegant Affairs in the morning.

Now I know why my husband was so quick to say that he would cook a romantic dinner for two tomorrow night!
I can't blame him. This sounds like a great deal anyway. I just hope that he doesn't burn the house down with any candles.

Our dinner was wonderful! My husband and I thought we would stay home this year and have a meal prepared for us. We have never done anything like that before, but after a long week we were both pretty tired.
We ordered from Fairway Market and it was amazing! My husband even picked it up before I got home and had everything all set up for a cozy, romantic dinner!

Hi Debbie,
Thank you for this great list of places that will prepare a Valentine's Day dinner for us. Our dinner was wonderful and everything was cooked to perfection. I picked it up early so I had to warm it up a little, but that didn't hurt anything.
Our dinner was complete with roses, candles, soft music, and a very, very tasty wine! (It was so good we emptied the bottle!)
I hope everyone else had a great night!
