La Famiglia Pizzeria in Sound Beach announced that it is closing its doors for good this week. It was located at 155 Sound Beach Boulevard,
“It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closing of La Famiglia Pizzeria,” the restaurant announced on its Facebook page.
While no details were revealed, the poster mentioned one of the family members' health being a deciding factor in the decision to permanently close.
Originally the pizzeria planned to close on December 23 but due to circumstances that day came sooner than expected.
“It has been a real honor to serve our amazing community,” the Facebook post says. “It is a beautiful town to live in and we will definitely see you around. Friendships we have made will last a lifetime. We thank you all for your continuous support through the years. Without you, we wouldn't have lasted 5 years in the "Square" of Sound Beach. From our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday✨, and a Happy, Healthy New Year!”
Many went to comment with their encouragement for the health of the owner and their appreciation for the pizzeria.
“Thank you for serving the community,” wrote Christine. “Best wishes and prayers for your husband.”
Veronica said she was sorry to hear the news.
“Will miss your delicious food. I wish only the best for your family,” she wrote. “Thank you for enriching our little community.”
