Zest Opens in Bay Shore

A new tapas place called Zest has opened in Bay Shore, giving off an upbeat artsy vibe. According to a story on the local news website GreaterLongIsland.com, the decor is filled with portraits of cultural icons from Aretha Franklin to Marylin Monroe. In the article, founder Michael Liebman is quoted as saying that he hopes “the friendliness of the staff and the décor keeps everybody eager to come back.”

 

On the menu, apps include cauliflower crust chips with spinach, roasted tomato and artichoke hummus ($12), smoked bacon-wrapped shrimp with creamy cheddar polenta, fried avocado, andouille sausage country gravy, and paprika oil ($16), and hog in a log, a puff pastry wrapped hot dog, pulled pork,  monterey jack, pickled radish, apple slaw, and bacon aioli ($14).

Sandwiches include a cajun salmon burger with avocado, poached pear, spinach, crispy shallots, and grilled citrus aioli ($17) and a crispy panko chicken club, crispy chicken skin bacon, pepper jack, avocado, Pico de Gallo, and cucumber ranch ($16). They also serve 12” craft pizzas ($13-18).

On Google Clarissa C gave it four-and-a-half stars (out of five).


“Such a fantastic place with a great menu,” she wrote. “The decor, music and staff are also so amazing! Truly enjoyed everything we tried here and can’t wait to go back!”


Vincent Scala said it was “incredible” and gave it five stars.


“Great vibe and the food was amazing,” he said. “Everything is unique and really delicious. Would recommend this place 100 times over.”
