Hempstead, NY - October 28, 2016 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident involving a pedestrian which occurred on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 7:25 a.m. in Hempstead.
According to detectives, Virginia C. Leviner, 66, of Hempstead, while working as a crossing guard for Hempstead Police Department was struck by a 2000 Mack truck in the street at the corner of S. Franklin Avenue and Grove Street. She was transported to Winthrop University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 9:04 a.m. by hospital staff. A brake and safety inspection was performed at the scene. No criminality is suspected at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
