Man Rescued by NCPD from Jones Inlet After Sailboat Hit by Wave

The victim was able to climb on the overturned boat and await police arrival.

The Marine Bureau reports the details of a water rescue that occurred off Freeport.
 
According to police, Marine 6 responded to a call for an overturned sailboat in the Jones Inlet. Upon arrival it was determined the boat had been hit by a large wave and the operator, a male, 45, was thrown into the water. The victim was able to climb on the overturned boat and await police arrival. 
 
The victim was transported back to shore on Marine 6 and with the assistance of Marine 2 were able to tow the sailboat back to shore as well. No injuries were reported.
