Recently, Hamptonites gathered for the 2nd Annual Hampton Open Pickleball Tournament at Hampton Racquet in East Hampton to raise critical funds for children battling pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses at Ronald McDonald House New York.

After witnessing his younger brother’s battle against cancer, Holden Lipton was inspired to provide comfort to families who were going through similar situations and joined Ronald McDonald House New York’s Youth Advisory Council with the hopes of making a difference. Having played pickleball himself and realizing its accessibility for players of all ages, Holden created the inaugural Hampton Open in 2022 to raise awareness of RMH-NY and funds to support its mission.

During the second annual event, pickleball players – including four-time MLB All-Star and member of the New York Mets Hall of Fame John Franco – engaged in some friendly competition on the courts. Attendees also enjoyed facepainting, a DJ, raffles, pop-up shops, refreshments and more. Building upon the success of last year’s event, this year’s Hampton Open raised vital funds to advance RMH-NY’s mission to support families in the fight against pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses and to increase healthcare equity across every borough.
