Long Island has almost unlimited places to go when you want to pop the question. We listed just seven of our favorite places to get engaged below.

Sunset on the Beach - Long Island beaches offer the most romantic backdrop for your marriage proposal, especially at sunset. Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai has an especially beautiful view of the sun going down over the Long Island Sound. Or drive over to Robert Moses State Park and pop the question. Both offer great local dining close by to celebrate.

Out of this Word - If you’re both a little big geeky or just really into aviation, try to bend the knee at The Cradle of Aviation Museum. There are plenty of impressive airplanes and spaceships to pop the question near. Our favorites are next to the Grumman Lunar Module or under the Grumman F-11A Tiger hanging in the brightly lit atrium.

Surrounded by Sunflowers - Nothing makes us happier than acres of beautiful yellow sunflowers. We bet your fiance-to-be will be happy too at Water Drinker Farm. As they say on their website, “whether you are a professional photographer or are just looking for a new picture to send the family, our sunflower fields are sure to make the perfect photography setting.”

A Purple Paradise - A lavender field not only looks impressive but smells amazing. At Lavender by the Bay you can make your proposal magical.

Be Prince Charming in a Castle - Want to really impress your future bride? Bring her to one of the many castles on Long Island and bend the knee. There’s Oheka Castle in Huntington or Castle Gould at Sands Point Preserve. Click here to explore your options in our list of seven castles to visit on Long Island.

Penguin Proposal - Since they’re already dressed for the occasion, why not head out to the Atlantis Aquarium in Riverhead and have a penguin ask the big question for you? They have a slate of proposal packages. If penguins aren’t your thing you can also have a sea lion hold a sign asking “will you marry me?”

Give Her Butterflies - Sure, popping the question can be a little scary but why not make those butterflies in your stomach something real. The Atlantis Aquarium also has a butterfly garden that is perfect any time of the year. You get 30-minute exclusive access for you and your intended once the exhibit has closed at 5pm.
