Albany, NY - July 9, 2013 - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced Virtusa, a Massachusetts headquartered global IT services company has opened a new technology center in Troy, NY. The growing company is projected to create up to 200 new jobs in the Capital Region by the end of 2014. Virtusa is actively hiring now to fill positions including engineers, analysts and project managers. Virtusa’s new 10,000 square foot technology center, the company’s most recent major investment in a US-based technology center, is strategically located within the Rensselaer Technology Park and easily accessible to Virtusa clients across the northeast. The technology center allows Virtusa to offer high quality, cost-effective nearshore IT services to its clients, improving the effectiveness of its optimized global delivery model. Additionally, its location near more than 15 colleges and universities in the Albany area enables the company to source and collaborate with local technology talent.

In return for the company’s investment in the Capital Region, the State is providing $200,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs tax credits. The credits will assist the company with building fit-up and the purchase of machinery, and will support the creation of 40 new, high-paying jobs at the Troy facility. Virtusa, which has two offices in New York City, anticipates significant growth over the next year and projects bringing 200 new jobs to the Capital Region alone.

The new technology center extends Virtusa’s ability to deliver highly specialized services to its Global 2000 client base, including a business process management (BPM) center of excellence built on the Pegasystems’ BPM platform. The technology center is also being designed to support several innovation initiatives for Virtusa’s Healthcare, Financial Services and Media & Information Services clients.
