Unknown subject called the 86 year-old victim, claiming to be his jailed grandson.
The First Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 11:03 a.m. in North Bellmore.
According to detectives, an 86 year-old male victim received a phone call from an unknown person identifying himself as the victim’s grandson. The subject stated that he was in jail and needed money for bail. The subject then gave the phone to a second subject who stated he was the grandson’s attorney. The second subject instructed the victim to send $8,000 to a specified address in Miami, Florida. After doing so, the victim discovered that his grandson had not called him and contacted police. The incident is under investigation.
