Juvenile Arrested in Elmont After Alleged Bias Assault, Officials Report

NCPD: A 16 year-old approached the victim and began punching, kicking, and making sexual orientation comments.

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a male juvenile, 16, for a Bias Incident that occurred in Elmont.
 
According to detectives, a 24 year old male victim was inside of a McDonald’s located at 1420 Hempstead Turnpike. The victim heard a group of individuals yelling comments about his sexual orientation. The victim asked them to stop at which point the male juvenile started to argue with the victim and spit on him. Both parties were separated by employees at which time the male juvenile approached the victim again and began punching, kicking, and making more sexual orientation comments towards the victim. The suspect fled scene on foot but soon after was located by fifth precinct Police and was placed under arrest without incident.
 
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
 
The juvenile subject is charged with Assault 3rd degree as a Hate Crime. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
