Long Island, NY - May 25, 2018 - LongIsland.com has long existed as a comprehensive guide of information and communication for all things Long Island, benefitting the many residents – those of which who live and work in Nassau and Suffolk and as well as New York's southeastern boroughs – since the website’s inception in 1996.

However, it was recently noted by John Colascione, Chief Executive Officer of Long Island Media Inc. – LongIsland.com’s parent company – that there remains one glaring omission on the giant-sized website, and he felt the time was just about right to address it; a revamping and re-invigorating of focus on healthcare, a topic that has risen to greater prominence with the near-limitless new technological and surgical procedures available to the Island's affluent residents.

“LongIsland.com has long been a great provider of information, and community-related news, however, there is a lack of high-quality information when it comes to the specific issue of healthcare-related solutions. For instance, we want to increase the type of content which is available on LongIsland.com as it relates to biological threats, in particular, especially those which life-altering diseases and preventive solutions are now readily available,” he said. “The strategic plan is to provide a much greater emphasis on critical healthcare related issues for local residents, including a source of qualified research and patient experiences that the public can use to potentially solve general wellness issues as well as crises when confronted with health-related road-blocks in life.”

Colascione noted that there are many highly notable healthcare companies and providers on Long Island, some of which are the best in the country, and in his opinion, are morally obligated to get the maximum amount of exposure for up and coming – or currently available – miracle cures, treatment options, and ground-breaking technologies; things that Long Islanders not only need to know about but are constantly researching, especially in relation to cancer, which is a leading cause of disease to many residents, he said.

“So we find ourselves with this immense resource which thousands and thousands of people read and make use of each day, and this gives us a great opportunity to fill a void in the Island's own information need for healthcare related information,” Colascione said. “We want to give hospitals, doctors, and other medical professionals a single outlet to keep the public informed of developments as well as give the public a definitive resource where they can find the most cutting-edge medical information that affects them and their loved ones, right here on Long Island.”

To assist in strategy and development, Long Island Media Inc. has partnered with Mr. Gregory Lavine, founder of Eastpointe Strategies, a public relations specialist with an extensive background in healthcare marketing, government, and politics. He will facilitate relationships between LongIsland.com and key-players, professionals, facilities, and organizations in Long Island's vast and highly sophisticated healthcare community; the purpose of which is to deliver the most accurate information available from the most qualified of healthcare professionals.

Lavine noted that his challenge will consist of using his long-built experience and reputation to familiarize medical professionals with the wide-ranging exposure that LongIsland.com offers day in and day out. The goal is to bring this tremendous opportunity straight to healthcare providers by offering them a robust, fresh new and exciting tool, powered by original content.

"Long Island.com offers the medical community a unique space to both promote their businesses to a huge local audience and, in addition, craft important content that will truly help their patients. For example, a facility may have a new medical device they absolutely need the public to know about or an amazing success story. We will be delivering these messages by educating consumers and users with a new centralized resource for healthcare information that caters specifically to them. I am excited to be a part of such an important and ambitious project," Lavine stated.

The focus of the revamping efforts will be on giving smaller, more independent medical professionals a leading voice; however, the plan also includes numerous opportunities for larger entities as well. Following the initial announcement, the plan is to roll out the revamping of LongIsland.com’s health resources over a short period of time, growing and evolving as more organizations 'find their fit' introducing themselves to visitors of the regional site. The end result, Colascione said, is to create yet another vital resource for Long Islanders to empower themselves with the latest news in the medical field, directly from top professionals across the Island.

“For over twenty years LongIsland.com has delivered the type of content residents and families rely on for finding great things to do and even better places to go. This includes entertainment, restaurants, news and general information on their own communities. Our new Healthcare endeavor will provide these visitors with a more intricate connection to the Islands medical professionals who not only want to share these amazing stories but have a need and obligation to do so” he said. “Ultimately, this will benefit our readers and our community, bringing them often life-saving tips to act on, potentially before its too late to find out about it. We are indeed living in the information age; and finding out about the right life-saving procedure, at the right time, can and often will make all the difference in someones life; it could be your mom, a loved one, a child.”
