Driver Charged with Striking Mail Carrier in North Babylon Indicted; Arraignment Today

North Babylon, NY - May 23, 2017 - A Deer Park man arrested last month for Reckless Driving and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance after striking a postal worker in North Babylon will be arraigned today, Tuesday 5/22, in Central Islip, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
 
On April 11, Stefano Belloisi, 51, driving a 1998 Lincoln Continental westbound on Prairie Drive veered off the road, struck a mail carrier, his postal truck, a hydrant and a telephone pole. The victim, a 40 year old Bayport man is hospitalized at Stony Brook University Hospital.
 
Belloisi is incarcerated in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
 
State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho will unseal the indictment. The court calendar will be called at 9:30.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
