FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EDT TODAY ...FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE THIS MORNING... The National Weather Service in Upton has expanded the * Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southern Connecticut and southeast New York, including the following areas, in southern Connecticut, Northern Middlesex, Northern New London, Southern Middlesex, and Southern New London. In southeast New York, Northeastern Suffolk, Northwestern Suffolk, Southeastern Suffolk, and Southwestern Suffolk. * Until noon EDT today * As much as 1 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, fell across portions of the area Monday afternoon and evening. Scattered heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to move across the area this morning, with an additional 1/2 to 1 inch of rain possible. * Heavy rain moving over already saturated grounds may produce localized flash flooding this morning. This will be especially true in areas of poor drainage, low-lying areas, and in urban areas.

Legislator Anker Attends Senior Celebration

Holbrook, NY, May 2013 – Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the Suffolk County Office for the Aging’s Senior Celebration on Wednesday, May 8 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook. Entertainment, vendor exhibits, and a luncheon were enjoyed by over 550 seniors.

 “Our seniors are one of our community’s greatest assets,” said Legislator Anker. “As the Vice Chairwoman of Suffolk County's Senior Committee, I will continue to preserve the way of life they treasure and protect the legacy they offer to guide our children’s future.”

The Suffolk County Office for the Aging works to develop a widespread service system to assist residents 60 years of age and older in maintaining their independence, to remove barriers to economic and personal independence, and to provide a variety of care for the vulnerable elderly.
