AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY TO 11 PM SATURDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties: Suffolk and Nassau. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for ozone. The air quality index, or A Q I, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the A Q I value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with pre existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting a physician. First Squad detectives report the details of a shooting incident that occurred in Roosevelt on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 6:00 pm.

Roosevelt, NY - April 15th, 2014 - First Squad detectives report the details of a shooting incident that occurred in Roosevelt on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 6:00 pm.

According to detectives, a 48 year old female victim was sitting in her living room at her Cottage Place residence when she heard a bang noise outside and then saw dust kick up inside. The victim then noticed a small hole in the wall behind her television that was not there earlier. The victim then called police. Upon arrival of the First Precinct Police it was determined that some unknown person (s) did shoot into the home from the outside. There were no injuries reported. There were no shell casings recovered. The investigation is continuing.
