The long standing Off Key Tikki tropical beach bar and grill in Patchogue rolled up the wicker mats and extinguished its tiki torches last year when owner Michael Bruemmer announced he was retiring for the real tropics down south after 20 years.

While rumors abounded on what was next for the property, the new owner, who reportedly purchased Off Key Tikki for $3.4 million has plans for a grand reopening.

The new spot will be called Baja Boathouse Marina Kitchen & Cantina. The Off Key Tiki website already redirects to a new page announcing the opening of Baja Boathouse soon.

A post on the old Off Key Tiki Facebook page from Bruemmer says the new owner plans to “take Tikki to the next level.” While he says much will be the same at Baja Boathouse, the new owner promises to “add new and exciting elements as well.”

Bruemmer will stay on over the summer of 2023 to help with the transition.

The new owner, restaurateur Lenny Olivia, is also the owner of Bar Grazie, an Italian/American restaurant in Massapequa, formerly Ciao Baby.
