Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker, in conjunction with Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), will host a Narcan training class on April 19th, 2022.

The class meets the NYS Department of Health requirements and will train participants to recognize an opioid overdose, administer intranasal Narcan, and know what steps to take until EMS arrives during an emergency situation.

This class will be held at Longwood Public Library in the Community Room from 6:30pm – 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 19th. Please RVSP on or before April 14th by calling 631-854-1600. Residents are also welcome to exchange their expired Narcan kits on site.

“While we have made great strides in battling the opioid epidemic here in Suffolk County, it still continues to affect many of our residents and their families” said Legislator Anker. “In the event that someone is experiencing an overdose, it is important for everyone to be prepared to administer the lifesaving drug, Narcan. Together, we can save lives and prevent fatal overdoses from occurring”.

Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive an emergency resuscitation kit that includes Narcan and fentanyl test strips. Advanced registration for the class is required. To register, or to receive additional information, please call Legislator Anker’s office at 631-854-1600.
