Knapp seaplane at Mastic Beach

 

This photograph depicts the Knapp seaplane at Mastic Beach, 1917.  From 1917 until the end of World War II, J.F. Knapp hosted the Aerial Coast Patrol Unit # 3 on his estate and later at Smith Point.  There were approximately 35 soldiers that trained there. Donated by Mr. Ken Spooner.
